Price is usually the first thing people ask about. Fair enough, it's a big purchase. But storage matters just as much here. Pick wrong, and you'll either pay for space you never touch or run out within a year.
Four storage tiers, same as before: 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, 2TB. Each one doubles the space. Each one costs more, proportionally.
What's actually new this year is the A20 Pro chip. It's noticeably faster for sustained tasks and on-device AI work. Behind that is a next-gen vapour chamber, pushing graphics up to 40% faster than the iPhone 17 Pro, plus a dual 16-core Neural Engine doing the heavy lifting. The screen stays at 6.9 inches with ProMotion up to 120Hz. Battery life also gets a real bump: up to 29 hours of typical use and up to 43 hours of video playback. That's four hours more than last year's Pro Max, which actually matters if you're someone who forgets to charge overnight.
Cameras are 48MP across all three lenses. The telephoto zooms in to 8x optical quality, good enough for casual shots and serious photography alike.
Here's how the four variants stack up.
|
Storage |
Best Suited For |
Price (India) |
|
256GB |
Light users, mostly photos and apps |
Rs. 1,79,900 |
|
512GB |
Heavy photo or video shooters |
Rs. 2,04,900 |
|
1TB |
4K/ProRes video creators, large app libraries |
Rs. 2,54,900 |
|
2TB |
Professionals shooting extensively in ProRAW or ProRes |
Rs. 3,29,900 |
If you mostly use your phone for messaging, social media, and everyday photos, 256GB will comfortably carry you a couple of years without any storage headaches.
512GB makes more sense if you shoot 4K often or keep a big offline photo and music library. Honestly, it's the safest pick for most people upgrading from an older Pro, since it buys you a long runway before storage becomes a problem again.
1TB and 2TB exist for a smaller crowd: video professionals, ProRes shooters, and people who genuinely fill up storage fast. If that doesn't apply to you, the extra cost usually isn't worth it.
Import duties and GST push India pricing above what you'd see in the US. That's true for pretty much every iPhone launch, not just this one. Currency swings between the global announcement and India's rollout can nudge final pricing too, sometimes up, sometimes down.
Launch pricing isn't always permanent either. Later production batches occasionally see small revisions. And once the festive season kicks in, bank cashback deals and exchange bonuses tend to bring the effective price down quite a bit.
Value isn't just cost per GB. The 256GB to 512GB jump is the one that actually makes sense; you roughly double your space for a smaller price bump than any later tier offers.
512GB to 1TB? Matters less for most people. Few users actually fill 512GB within two or three years of normal use. That price gap really only justifies itself for professional video or photo work.
2TB stays niche. Unless you have a specific, proven need for that much space, 512GB offers the best real-world value in this lineup.
512GB, for most people. It covers years of photos, apps, and 4K footage without forcing constant storage cleanup, and the price step-up from 256GB is the most reasonable in the range.
If you're a working creator shooting ProRes or ProRAW daily, then 1TB or 2TB is worth it. Everyone else is probably better off spending less on storage and trusting the everyday performance to hold up. Pre-bookings for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max open September 12 at 5:30 PM, with sales starting September 18 at 8:00 AM.
What storage options will the iPhone 18 Pro Max have?
Four options: 256GB (Rs. 1,79,900), 512GB (Rs. 2,04,900), 1TB (Rs. 2,54,900), and 2TB (Rs. 3,29,900). Covers everything from casual use to heavy professional work.
Will the iPhone 18 Pro Max have improved cameras?
Yes. The 48MP triple-lens system includes a genuinely variable-aperture main lens (ƒ/1.48-ƒ/4.0), plus new manual tools like exposure scopes and focus peaking. It builds nicely on what previous Pro Max models already did well.
Is the iPhone 18 Pro Max available now?
Yes. Pre-orders and retail availability are live across India already, starting at Rs. 1,79,900.
