Eri silk is also known as endi or errandi in India. The woolly white silk is often referred to as the fabric of peace when it is processed without killing the silkworm. The shawl material is made from 100% eri silk, made purely with hand weaving and is indigenous to the state of Assam, India. Muga Ghisa silk is used for the design thread. Ghisa is the silken yarn obtained from the cocoon which do not get included in the routine process of reeling in of silk directly from the cocoon. This yarn is generally used as blend material with pure silk fabric. Ghisa silk yarns are short and the textile made from them have an uneven and slubby texture, giving them a raw sense of appeal.
