About Baluchari Baluchari, the widely admired silk saree is a Geographical Indication GI product of Bengal and has a history of over 200 years. It is characterised by its intricate designs that often depict scenes from Indias ancient epics and mythology. The sophisticated hand-weave and colour harmony make Baluchari an object of desire. The younger generation of traditional weaver families had been opting out of this craft as the Baluchari weave is technically difficult but not that remunerative.
