Scuderia Ferraris Formula Italia collection of limited edition strap timepieces launched last year captured the simplicity, interior color palette and time honored Italian craftsmanship of revered 60s Ferrari racing cars. Now Scuderia Ferrari brings a more contemporary, technical edge to this now full production heritage inspired sport watch line named Formula Italia S. Topped by a domed crystal and accented in team colors, the new multi level black round dials with minute reflector, date display at 4 o clock and Scuderia Ferrari script logo running from 5 o clock to 3 o clock, feature a raised silver toned Racing Shield at 3 o clock, a bolder railroad minute track and, on the 3 hand models, applied white or red Arabic numerals that replicate the font found on the dashboard gauges of the 1961 Ferrari 156 F1. Formula Italia S chronograph dials with applied stick markers are detailed at 9 o clock by a black or steel toned metal plaque inspired by the engine number plate riveted to a race cars body, while 3 hand models sport the Scuderia Ferrari logo etched along the side of the case. The center mounted seconds hand on all dials features a signature Scudetto shaped counterbalance. Rendered in brushed solid or black ion plated stainless steel, the Formula Italia S case 44 mm wide for the 3 hand, and 46 mm for the chronograph sports a bezel with a knurled texture reminiscent of the grips on an auto mechanics hand tools. Racing stripes in team colors are suggested in a subtle new way on the sporty leather straps with colored edges and contrast top stitching, finished by buckles etched with the iconic Racing Shield.
