Mokama Taal is a perennial water system and exhibits enormous biodiversity. Mokama is a town and a municipal council in Patna district in the Indian state of Bihar. It is located 90 km east of Patna on the southern banks of the river Ganges. Mokama has 2nd highest amount of lentil production in India. Farmers here undertake extensive cultivation of pulses, including moong (green gram), masoor (red lentil), and chana (split chickpeas) in their silt-rich fields. Typically, the receding waters leave behind fertile soil and farmers would then sow their crops. This generally happens before October 15, and farmers would get good yields, without much need for fertilizers or water. The Masoor dal is cultivated and grown by the women farmers of Jeevika Bihar. Amalfarm is directly working with FPO run by women farmers to source the product directly. The masoor dal is made by the traditional milling process and thereby retains the nutrient naturally. Each of our product is sourced directly and come from a specific location to which it belongs.
