- Here's a very basic guide on how to play an Assamese Gogona:
- 1. Hold the gogona in your hands, ensuring a comfortable grip. Keep the wind chamber close to your mouth.
- 2. Position your lips against the opening of one of the pipes. Make sure your lips are lightly sealed around the opening to prevent air from escaping.
- 3. Blow gently into the pipe while maintaining a steady airflow. Adjust the intensity of your breath to control the volume of the sound produced.
- 4. While blowing into one pipe, use your fingers to lightly block the other pipes. By selectively unblocking and blocking the pipes, one can create different notes and melodies.
- 5. Experiment with different finger placements to produce a variety of sounds and notes. Practice transitioning between different finger positions smoothly to create melodies and musical phrases.
