The Siddhas were the originators of the ancient medical systems of our country who used many types of substances for medical treatment. One type of medicinal salt they used was alum called alum. This alum is a hydrated double sulphide salt of aluminium. This amethyst is mentioned in our Siddha medical notes as Chinakaram. Since time immemorial### our ancestors have used this alum stone to cure various types of health problems. So since ancient times our ancestors used to take an alum stone and tie it with a black rope and hang it in front of the house.
