Phalaenopsis orchids can be grown as indoor plants as long as they get sufficient amount of light and air circulation. Phalaenopsis or Moth Orchids as they are commonly called are grown for their floral longevity and perfectly arranged blooms. Phalaenopsis blooms can last for 2-3 months and if the plant is very healthy, they can bloom off their old spikes a second time. Watering Water your Phalaenopsis orchids early in the morning. This insures complete water evaporation on the foliage as well as the crown by nightfall. Water with rain, distilled, or reverse-osmosis water as the mix approaches dryness. Never use water that has been softened by a water softener. Generally Phalaenopsis require watering about once every 4 to 7 days. Plants should never stand in water!
